Founded in 2016, Budbee is a Sweden-based tech company with the mission to make online shopping easier. Charged with a self-learning system and bespoke algorithms, Budbee reaches more than 40 million people in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands - either through the extensive network of parcel lockers or with home deliveries.

From the very start, Budbee has put the consumer's needs first. So far, more than 7 million unique consumers have been served with same or next-day deliveries using bikes, electric vehicles, and biofuels. Budbee's services are used by thousands of e-commerce companies, including ASOS, Zalando, Inditex and H&M. Backed by Kinnevik, Stena Sessan and AMF, among others, Budbee is on track to become the leading European e-commerce enabler. Always with the customer at heart.

On 31 October, 2022, Budbee joined forces with Instabox under a new parent company, Instabee. This combination creates a new challenger, ready to take on the European market. Read more on instabee.com.

Budbee Milestones

Since our start in 2016, we have had incredible growth - see some highlights from our journey:


Fredrik Hamilton, then a recent graduate of the Stockholm School of Economics, funds Budbee: a delivery company focused on ready-packed grocery bags. After a year of technological development, the business expands into e-commerce parcels and, in October, has its first delivery.

The successful launch of a delivery service for online shopping soon attracts external investors. Before the end of the year, Budbee raises capital from a group consisting of e.g., Karl-Johan Person (CEO H&M), Sebastian Siemiatkowski (Co-Founder & CEO Klarna), Victor Jacobsson (Co-Founder Klarna), Stefan Krook (Co-Founder & CEO Kivra).


We get the keys to our first terminal located in Spånga, outside Stockholm. Not long after, the first automatic sorting machine was designed and built, based on input and ideas from the Budbee team, proving the scalability of the company.

A strategic decision is made to step away from the initial grocery bag business and solely focus on e-commerce parcels - a brave decision at the time when grocery deliveries stood for more than 50% of the turnover.


Right after the holidays, Budbee’s delivery zones expand outside Stockholm, and in August, customers in both Malmö and Gothenburg can enjoy a new type of online shopping experience.

H&M signs an agreement to start offering Budbee deliveries to their customers.


Kinnevik invests 80 mSEK in Budbee and becomes the company’s first large external investor.

We move to a larger terminal in Stockholm, located in Länna, but even more exciting, Budbee becomes the largest home delivery company in Sweden, just 2 years after the first delivery!

It’s time for Budbee’s first international expansion, and we open a terminal and an office in Helsinki, Finland.


Budbee expands to Denmark and customers in three countries can now enjoy a better online shopping experience.

H&M joins as an investor in Budbee in a 50 mSEK round led by Kinnevik, with the money to be used for further expansion.

Budbee enters its largest market to date, the Netherlands.


The Budbee app is launched, offering customers an even better experience from checkout to delivery.

Budbee raises 278 mSEK from Stena Sessan and existing investors.

We add parcel lockers, Budbee Box, as a complement to the home delivery service.


It’s time for the grand opening of Budbee’s first in-house designed green terminal. Covered with solar panels and equipped with the latest technology within sorting, it is state of the art.

Budbee expands the delivery zones in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. In total, more than 300 new cities are added to the network.


A new funding round is completed and we raise 525 mSEK in a round led by AMF, one of Sweden’s leading pension funds and one of the largest owners on the Stockholm Nasdaq.

We launch in our fifth market - Belgium. Now more than 30 million people can get their online purchases delivered by Budbee.

Budbee has more than 450 employees and more than 50 open positions.
